Colorfully Cultured™ is a project dedicated to fostering cultural literacy and global citizenship for girls by teaching them about the world through the eyes of girls in other countries.
Through stories, pictures, mini-documentaries and interactive online experiences, Colorfully Cultured™ inspires global cultural understanding in a colorful, fun, and engaging way.
For girls. By girls. Through the eyes of girls.
Part of being a global citizen is about thinking deeply and critically about the world around you, respecting and valuing diversity, and using world perspective to develop your own values. In an age where the world is becoming smaller and travel for families is increasingly difficult, Colorfully Cultured™ brings curated cultural learning to your living room; encouraging a new generation of girls to be culturally competent, globally aware, and independent thinkers.
Our mission is to stimulate positive cultural understanding and empathy by inspiring young girls to explore the world and develop a passion for, and an understanding of, other cultures.
Project Colorfully Cultured™
An internet experience aimed to engage girls who want to learn more about the world through their girl peers in other countries. Through a mixed use of photography, specialized content, and documentary style mini-films, users will engage by viewing a "through my own eyes" film featuring a girl from a specific country which will highlight aspects of their family life, school life, and social life. As an educational experience, the user will learn about various countries with the ultimate goal of acquiring "global citizenship".
Project Global Moms, Global Daughters™
Global Moms, Global Daughters™ is a project focused on moms who grew up in other countries but are raising their daughters in Northern California. It is a project which will showcase how cultural identity shapes the forming of values for both themselves and their daughters in an age that demands global understanding and cultural literacy.
It all changed when I became a mom. Certainly not my ambition or my desire to keep learning, but how my role in life might shape the lives of others. So, following a nearly two decade career as a global leader in international marketing and strategy, I opted out of the traditional work environment to pursue more purpose driven work.
Now, in the midst of raising two girls, I am more than ever focused on laying a groundwork for their future. You see, I want them to be strong and independent, involved and open minded, active and healthy, kind and generous. While I can’t be those things for them, I can teach my girls, all girls, about what matters and that the world extends beyond their own playground. This is project Colorfully Cultured™.
